Leonard had a postseason career-high 37 points Jersey

SAN ANTONIO -- The Spurs responded to another late-game meltdown as they have all season: relying on a little 3-point shooting and a whole lot of Kawhi Leonard.
In Game 2 of the Spurs' first-round series against the Grizzlies Monday night, Leonard poured in a postseason career-high 37 points on just 14 shots, thanks to a 19-of-19 performance at the line. While it's always impressive to set a new career-high, the fact that the mark he passed was one he set just a few days ago in Game 1 makes it.
Kawhi Leonard has had a lot of big games for the San Antonio Spurs, but this was among the best of the best. He has basically been http://www.officialbluejacketsproshop.com/Boone_Jenner_Jersey unstoppable in this Western Conference playoff series against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Leonard finished Game 2 with a playoff-career-high 37 points and 11 rebounds, the first Spurs player to have at least 35 points and 10 rebounds in a playoff game since Tim Duncan against the Suns in 2008. Leonard is also the first Spurs player to start a postseason with consecutive 30-point games since Terry Cummings in 1992.
Who on the Grizzlies can stop Leonard? Four Grizzlies have guarded him on at least five of his plays this series --
Vince Carter, James Ennis, Marc Gasol and Wayne Selden. Leonard is a combined 17-of-19 against them, with 21 of his 28 free throw attempts resulting from matchups against that quartet.
Leonard went 19-of-19 from the free throw line in Game 2, the first player with that many makes and no misses since Dirk Nowitzki’s 24-of-24 game in 2011. Leonard is 28-of-28 from the line for the series.
Leonard is 10-of-10 on midrange shots this series. He's also 9-of-13 in the paint, so combined he's 19-of-23 on 2-point shots against the Grizzlies (1-of-5 from 3-point range).
Taking into account free throws, Leonard has made 47 of 51 shots (field goals and free throws) from inside the arc this series.
They also got an assist from the officials, according to Memphis coach David Fizdale.
Leonard had a postseason career-high 37 http://www.nygiantsofficialstore.com/weston-richburg-jersey-for-sale-c-38.html points and added 11 rebounds, and San Antonio beat the Memphis Grizzlies 96-82 on Monday night to take a 2-0 lead in their first-round series.
Game 3 is Thursday night in Memphis.
San Antonio led for all but 13 seconds in winning its 10th consecutive postseason game over Memphis.
"This team has character, besides the talent and the desire to win," Spurs center Pau Gasol said. "We have to keep that up every single night. We responded well when they made their run, and that's the mindset we have to have every night."
Leonard finished 9 for 14 from the field and was 19 for 19 on free throws.
San Antonio had a better start than in Game 1. Leonard made sure of that.
Tony Parker added 15 points for the Spurs, who had three others score in double figures.
Conley finished with 24 points, Randolph had 18 points and Marc Gasol added 12 points for the Grizzlies.
The Grizzlies forced seven http://www.officialbluejacketsproshop.com/Alexander_Wennberg_Jersey turnovers while outscoring the Spurs 34-19 in the opening 16 minutes of the second half. Conley, Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph accounted for 21 points.
Leonard opened the game by making his first three shots and four free throws as the Spurs built a 13-point lead, the same deficit they faced in the opening period Saturday.
Memphis closed within 75-71 early in the fourth quarter, but San Antonio responded with 3-pointers by Parker and Pau Gasol in rebuilding their double-digit lead.
Leonard, the game's leading scorer, also grabbed 11 rebounds on the night, and scored 10 of his 37 points in the fourth, including a thunderous dunk, which put an exclamation point on the win.
In addition to being a new personal postseason high, Leonard's performance was also of a historic nature -- in more ways than one.
First, he became the first Spur to put up 35 points and 10 rebounds since Tim Duncan back in 2008.
Kawhi Leonard: first Spurs player with 35 points, 10 rebounds in the playoffs since Tim Duncan in 2008 vs Suns
And in addition, he became just the third player in the last 30-plus years to be perfect at the free-throw line while taking at least 19 shots http://www.officialnikejetshop.com/nick-folk-jersey-for-sale-c-29.html from the charity stripe in a game.
"We don't get the respect that these guys deserve because Mike Conley doesn't go crazy, he has class and he just plays the game," Fizdale said. "But I'm not going to let them treat us that way. I know (Spurs coach Gregg Popovich has) got pedigree and I'm a young rookie, but they are not going to rook us. That's unacceptable, that was unprofessional. My guys dug in that game and earned the right to be in that game, and they did not even give us a chance."
